I’d been using Final Cut Pro X for years before I discovered this tip.

To reset any setting in a color wheel back to its default, double-click it.

So simple! And it took me so long to discover.

Sigh…

Clicking the curly return arrow resets all settings. Double-clicking the exposure or saturation pointers just reset that setting. Also, the just colour change puck resets when double-clicked.

I my system, FCP X 10.4.6 and later, double-clicking the color puck, saturation or gray-scale sliders all reset with a double-click. And you are correct, double-clicking only resets a single value, while the reset button resets everything.

Or just hit the little ‘return’ arrow you can see on the bottom right – half the clicks! All the various colour settings (wheels, curves etc) have this function. It often isn’t highlighted until there’s a change to reset.

Interesting to find out the differences between reset all and just one element, as described by you and Bruce in the other comment. That’s new to me – and makes your tip more valuable 🙂 #alwayslearning
